A-Key® 4000 Token Use Cases

Secure Mobile Data

Executive Use

The Authenex A-Key® 4000 Token makes sure that sensitive executive data stays secure and out of unauthorized hands and away from prying eyes. For example, sensitive corporate data to be given out at an executive meeting can be saved onto A-Key® 4000 tokens before the meeting. Each token can be set with user and administrator passwords, so that even the executives cannot change the token's settings. The tokens can be given to the executive team at the meeting, so that the team can have this information afterwards. The secured data, such as meeting minutes, data, presentations and documents, spreadsheets and reports are secure even if the executive leaves their token on a plane.

Non-executive Use

In another situation, many people (other than executives) in an organization can carry around sensitive company data. For example, engineers, developers, administrative aids, designers, management, even training personnel can routinely have sensitive information. Currently, that data is insecure and can be a weak point in protecting the company's IP. In one high tech company, 500 engineers were carrying around company sensitive information, like CAD drawings, schematics and other intellectual property on insecure flash drives. If they were to upgrade their users to the A-Key® 4000 token, company management could have the peace of mind knowing that, no matter what, their data was secure, wherever it was taken.

Military - Sensitive documents

Corporate data is not the only sensitive data that can be secured on the A-Key 4000 token. The military can save data as well as save face by storing sensitive information on the A-Key® 4000 token and avoid headlines like these:

Simply storing data on the A-Key® 4000 token and setting two-levels of password protection, as well as maintaining self erase settings, would have saved the government a lot of bad press.

Doing a Presentation and Leaving the Token with the Client

Sales professionals who make presentation and leave company literature with their client can now do it and create a lasting impression at the same time. A sales person can take their A-Key® 4000 token with all relevant sales data, product literature and presentations to their client; make their presentation on the client's equipment and leave the token (containing all prepared materials) with the client. Besides giving the client all the materials he needs to make a purchasing decision, it does the favor of giving the client a token that has up to one gigabyte of secure, encrypted storage that he can use for his own purposes. The token can also be set up to launch the salesman's company's website each time the prospective customer plugs the token in.

Accessing Email and the Web From the Token

With the addition of applications like Firefox and Thunderbird, A-Key® 4000 token's users can access email and the web from the security of their A-Key® 4000 token. The applications and any data the applications store, such as passwords, history and emails remain secure in encrypted storage. Any user can simply plug their token into any Windows 2000 or XP computer, launch Thunderbird (residing on the token, not on the computer) and check their home or corporate email, without leaving a trail of personal information behind them.

My A-Key™ Software:
Secured Web Credentials That Can be Used Anywhere

Many people have information that they use on a near daily basis, such as bank account numbers, bank web site access credentials, social security numbers, VPN credentials, etc. With the addition of My A-Key™ software, the A-Key® 4000 token becomes the secure, portable data repository that many have been asking for.

For example, it is not uncommon for someone to need to keep track of five different web sites he regularly uses for work, personal email, two bank accounts, postage on line, Amazon.com, EBay, Netflix, etc. He could use My A-Key™ software to securely store and use all the access and account information on the A-Key® 4000 token. This could easily be 15 URLS, passwords to several important applications used at work, his checking account number and other information. In doing so, this person knows that his encrypted information is secure and won’t be accessible, even if his token is lost or stolen, because the token is password protected and self erase will keep all his data from unauthorized eyes. When he travels, he can securely access web sites from a kiosk or Internet café, because My A-Key™ software has his back. Without his fingers ever touching the keyboard, My A-Key™ software will log him into his secure web sites, thus frustrating any key logger that lurks on the machine.

Automatically Launching Your Web Site, to Keep Your Company Fresh in People's Minds

My A-Key software can be pre-loaded onto the A-Key 4000 token and configured at the factory to automatically access any web site you want when the token is inserted into the USB port of a computer. This provides a great marketing opportunity.

For example, a bank could use My A-Key on the A-Key 4000 token to not only promote secure use of on line banking, but also to promote how seriously the bank takes the security of its customers. In such a case, the bank would order a number of A-Key 4000 tokens with My A-Key software pre-installed and configured to automatically launch the company's web site when the token is inserted into a USB port.

In such a case, the first time a customer used the token, he would insert it into his USB port, Internet Explorer would launch and the user would navigate to the page where he accesses his account. He then enters his access credentials and logs in. My A-Key software would save that information in the encrypted storage of the token. Every time thereafter the user wants to access the site he plugs in his token and navigates to the log in page. My A-Key will log him in automatically. The user gets the security and convenience of My A-Key, the security of the A-Key 4000 token, and the bank communicates to their customer that it takes both its and the customer's security seriously enough to provide this product. The bank is also kept fresh in the customer's mind, because every time he plugs the token in, Internet Explorer launches that bank's web page.
